RULES FOR ARROWMEN AND SCOUTERS 13 AND 15 YEARS OLD
In order for youths 13 to 15 years old to be present at the Habitat site they must have their parents sign a waiver of liability. Habitat in Atlanta job site insurance does not cover youths in this age category. Parents are responsible for insurance coverage. However, if a tour permit is filed with the BSA Atlanta Area Council, then the same insurance that covers all permitted scout outing will be in effect. NO PERSON UNDER 16 WILL BE ALLOWED ON THE HABITAT JOB SITE WITHOUT THIS FORM PROPERLY COMPLETED.

before the weekend you plan
to attend.
Also, if you are a member
of Foothills or North Fulton District, these two
dates have been swapped,
so the official dates are as follows
North Fulton: September 9th
Foothills: October 14th
Day Chapters:
HFH’s Site Project Manager, with volunteers, does the layout of the floor plan on the slab and cuts plates. (This is sometimes completed on Friday) The volunteers begin framing and erecting the exterior and interior walls and installing & bracing the trusses. If time permits, decking the roof may begin.
Layout for Framing: Mark the location of walls on the slab surface; may include layout of the bottom plates. Special tools needed: black marker, clear lacquer spray.
Framing: Build and erect the exterior and interior walls and porch of the house; insert combination tub/shower units into bathrooms.
Week 2 (August 26th)
Day Chapters:
Volunteers deck and paper the roof, install sheathing, wrap the house with Tyvek, install windows, exterior doors, whole house fan, fascia boards, purlins and deadwood. The house should be dried in.
Trusses: Place pre-fabricated trusses on top of the house frame.
Roof Decking/Felt: Cover the trusses with plywood (or OSB) and roofing felt (allows the plumbing, heating/air conditioning, and electrical professionals to begin their work).
Windows & Exterior Doors: Install pre-hung windows and exterior doors. Special tools needed: wood shims.
Week 3 (September 9th)
Day Chapters:
Volunteers apply the drip edge, shingle the roof and install the ridge vent. Insulation baffles are nailed into place and siding work is begun with the installation of the "F", "J" and starter strips (which are best installed by the SPM prior to volunteer work days), soffits and corners. Wall insulation is completed.
Roofing/Ridge Vents: attach drip edge and ridge venting; lay fiberglass shingles
Vinyl Siding/ Soffits: attach vinyl siding and trim to the exterior walls of the house build; soffits and pre-finished aluminum fascia
Wall Insulation: attach R-11 insulation bats to all exterior walls (with facing inward), and to master bedroom walls that are common with another room or hallways (for privacy)
Porch ceiling: Install porch ceiling
Week 4 (September 23rd)
Day Chapters:
Volunteers continue the siding work and prime all the interior trim material. The ceiling is insulated. Exterior painting is begins.
Painting: Begin painting the exterior of the house
Vinyl Siding continues: attach vinyl siding and trim to the exterior wall of the hose
Insulate ceiling: Insulate the ceiling
Week 5 (September 30th)
Day Chapters:
Volunteers finish exterior painting and begin interior painting. Volunteers will also complete interior trim and install cabinets and countertops.
Painting: Finish the exterior painting, and begin the interior painting.
Trim/ Cabinets: Install interior trim and cabinets
Week 6 (October 7th)
Day Chapters:
Volunteers will finish interior painting, and start punchout.
Week 7 (October 14th)
Day Chapters:
Volunteers do the landscaping, finish punchout,
and dedicate the house to its new owners.
